I just bought a RC8 from Full Throttle today and it should be arriving at my house tomorrow ( Friday) They went to race in Savanna and are closed until Monday. They wouldn't ship fuel due to hazmat reasons. (up charge on shipping) So, here is the deal I dealt with B&B along time ago and will NOT deal with them any longer!!!!!!! Full throttle was $18.00 per gallon. Anyone know where I can buy fuel at locally? I am in Lawrenceville. Any help would be great as I haven't raced since the Dave days over by where Gwinnett jail is now.
I am also looking to get into the sportmans class in Loganville. I want to know though if the guys racing there in that class are there for fun? As I understand the competitive side of things I also understand that this is also supposed to be fun.
This is why my dad and I stopped racing years ago. IT STOPPED BEING FUN. AND WAS ALL COMPETITIVE!!!!!!
Also are there any guys out there that are running the RC8? I would like some tips on what the upgrades need to be on the car? Like what tends to break and so forth

Wow....by Dave days...do you mean Champion RC Speedway?? I used to race there when I was a teenager!! I've asked people locally about that place but no one seems to remeber it!!
As far as the fuel thing goes.....Eddie/Full Throttle usually comes to the races at Loganville, so you can always pickup fuel from him at the track. If that isn't an option, I know Hobbytown in Gwinnett (by Gwinnett Place Mall) has Byron Fuel and possibly OD.
I don't race the RC8, but I know a few guys locally are running it. Seems that the front top plate is a weak point from what I've heard. Give Eddie a call at the shop and ask him this question as both he and Scott are currently running the RC8.
Hope to see you out at the track this spring! Let me know if you have any other questions....you can shoot me an eMail at danny.verdecchia@gmail.com

Wow Danny, didnt know you ran @daves track.I ran there too back in the day.
Coppertop, there is some good guys that race @the loganville track, who lilke to have fun and still have the competitive spirit. Also a lot of knowledgeable guys that are glad to help anyone,Danny being one of them.So I also hope to see ya @ the track .
There is also a small Hobby shop in Auburn,(if you know where that is) about 8miles from lawrenceville on hwy 8 that carries Sidewinder fuel and possibly other brands also. I normally just get Eddie @ft to send or bring some to the Lgville track. Cya Rick

Danny covered the fuel question pretty well, so I'll try to help with the RC8 questions.
The top plate has been an issue for some people. I finally broke one this past weekend, but it was due to a very nasty crash and not simply because of a weak part (ski jumps are fun until they go wrong). I actually broke the chassis brace mount under the plate worse than the plate itself, so you might keep an extra one of those on hand (they come in a pack with the top plate, so that covers both for $5).
Other than that, replace the screws that hold the rear hinge pin plates for both the front and rear diff cases with longer ones. The stock ones are too short and can pull out. Scott or Eddie can tell you the proper length, as I can't recall that off the top of my head. Also, add some small washers under the screws that hold in the hinge pins on the diff cases and out on the arms, just for added security.
On the center driveshafts, there is a setscrew in the universal joint that needs to be removed. This will free up movement the joint and the set screw is not needed, since there is a ring around the joint that will keep the pin in place.
Other than that, my car is basically stock (I have a home-made plate on the rear, instead of the screws for the hinge pins, but I'll be taking that off soon). The car is good and tougher than I expected, to be honest.
Have fun with it!
