Okay guys and girls, I'm trying to get a feeling for interest in some indoor carpet racing in the area. There is a very good chance that a new facility will be opening in Conyers, just off of I-20, right next to the Full Throttle Hobbies store. Right now, there are plans for 12th scale, 10th scale touring, Mini class (18th scale), etc. There is also talk of a Mini-T offroad track setup that runs on carpet with jumps, etc.
Foam tires would be allowed, but there would be no traction compounds allowed.
Sound off and tell me what you think of this idea.

No traction compund? Is that for any class? Cause i have raced carpet for years and you need traction compound for 12th scale and TC foam. I can understand no compound for 18th.
But other than that i would love to see this track happen? Is this hobby shop alrdy in Conyers?

The reason for restricting traction compound would be due to the carpet that is on the floor now. This facility would be rented at first, so they have to be careful with the carpet and avoid tearing it up. A test run with a touring car showed that the carpet had good traction without compounds. The organizer may decide to overlay the existing carpet with one just for racing, but that hasn't been decided yet. As for your other question, yes, the hobby shop is already there, just 2 doors away.

Can we come and see the shop and where the track will be? What is the location of the shop?
I hope compound would be allowed. Cause on a track that size i know alot of racers in this area will be interrested in mod classes. But either way people will run there.
What motor and car did they use to test with?

Don't think "overlaying" would work.....probably be too spongy with two layers

Can we come and see the shop and where the track will be? What is the location of the shop? The shop's name is Full Throttle Hobbies. The address is: Full Throttle Hobbies, LLC 2176 Salem Rd SE Conyers, GA 30013 For a Google Map to the store, click the link below and paste the address below it into the search field: maps.google.com2176 Salem Rd, Conyers, Ga 30013 As for your questions about motor, car, etc, used in testing, I mentioned them to the shop owner and asked him to come on here and address those for you.

To answer your question about the car, # of cells, etc, it was a 6-cell Losi touring car (XXX-S?). I don't know if it was a mod motor or stock, but it was on foams.

There is a hold on this while the building in question is inspected by the fire marshall, etc. The carpet is down and waiting for a layout, but there is no word on when approval will be given.
