Alright guys just finished breaking in my .5 today.....Seems nice ;D...I think the center diff is leaking already but gonna get new seals for it....One question though I got the picco .12 turbo, it came with two collets for the flywheel. One of the collets is too big in I.D........The other fits nice, flywheel is plenty tight, but there is about an 1/8 inch gap between the front bearing and the back of the flywheel...Is this cool?? Every engine I put on my revo has no gap there ....Again runs fine but will this stress the crank in any way

If the collet seems to be too big, you can cut it with a dremel to make the gap bigger. Then it should fit tighter once the flywheel is on. As for the gap between your bearing and flywheel, 1/8 of an inch seems like alot to me. I don't know if it would put any more stress on the crank being set out that far, but I would be concerned with dirt and debris getting lodged in there.

The only way cutting the collet will help would be to grind the large side of my collet to make it shorter, cutting a bigger gap in it will not change the dia. of the crankshaft.

If you cut the gap, to make it bigger, when you put the flywheel on, the collet would then get tighter. Because the ID would have changed because the collet can pinch closer together.

John,
Will the collet not slide back any further on the crankshaft or will the flywheel not go back any further on the collet?

Tanner I hear ya, but its already nice and tight on the crank right now, dont think it can get any less ID to fit the shaft........ Vic.......The collet is all the way back on the front bearing, the flywheel will not go any further on the collet.

If you shave the larger end of the collet (the side that goes against the bearing), the flywheel will move back.

John are you having any problem with the clutch bell and the spur lining up? If not I would not worry about it. I have several RC vehicles where is a gap some from the collet and some I had to shim to get the CB and Spur to line up.

Ok I want to say I was impressed with the .5's that were running at l'ville a while back. Infact I was so inpreses I went out and bought one. Now here is what I think. First I need to tell a llitte about my trip to the indoor race in nashville. We had (9) crt.5's and ecept for a few servo problems they were flawless. The top three of us were getting lap times only about 5 or 6 tenths of a second slower than the fastest 1\8 buggies. That little thing is way bad to the bone. It drives so easy turns on a dime, Jumps good as anything and and is very forgiving to any mistakes. If anyone is looking to get into r\c racing it is inexpensive, tires are cheep and .12 motors are reasonable.

I think it's time to talk about doing some .5 racing. I am ready and I know of a couple of guys that plan on getting one.

I have a .5 ready to rock and roll and haven't raced it yet. Let's get something going. I'm tired of the thing just sittin in the trailer. Guess What.....It's RED Yeah Baby! The Red .5 just don't ring like the Red Revo but it's fast so it's all good. A little General Lee would be cool JT. Why wait, get a .5
