Littleman is right, it has alot to do with the driver.
I said the Losi 8ight because it seems to be one of the more popular chassis at the tracks.
The buggy that stands out, is the buggy that wins.

How do the parts cost compare on the 1/8th? About the same as 1/10th?
My local hobby shop seemed to not like the Duratrax Raze 1/8th buggy and suggested the Offna instead. Any comments on that? Right now I have a 1/16th buggy (I know, there is no 1/16th class) and a 1/10th 2wd truck (xterminator) but I've never come out other than to watch once. I do like the 1/8ths though but have been afraid of the cost until recently.

It sounds to me that your scepticle of what to get..... What I would do is check around on some of the for sale forums and try a good used buggy. This way you don't spend alot of money just to try out a buggy or come out to the track and I bet anyone you talk to will show you what they have, explain to you why they run that particular vehicle and would probably even let you take it for a spin. Find a racer you know and have them point you in the right direction so you won't spend money on any useless r/c stuff. Hope this helped! PM me if I can be of further assistance to you. Good Luck!!

Thanks, Littleman!!! Something like this will save him time and money and keep him from buying something he won't be happy with within a week or two.

Hey guys thanks. I'll definitely come down. I have a good 1/10th that is race capable so what I really just need to do is start racing that. Then, if it still interests me I'll consider getting a 1/8th buggy. I have some onroad RC experience so hopefully I can get the hang of the dirt racing with some practice.

I am getting back into 1/10th scale racing and am getting my son into it as well. Loganville is close so probably the track we would be racing at. Are there any 4WD classes there? The reason I am asking is because of the Jato 3.3. Like below I would put a .12 in it for weekend track tracing but the truck itself is well built.
Does anyone race Nitro Rustler 2.5's or equivalents there? I like the idea of getting a Rustler because of the engine size for speed racing away from the track. It's not too bad to change out the engine and put a .12 in for the weekend. Does anyone else do this? The GT2 is a great truck too but the engine it comes with is a little weak. I'd rather have a decent engine for speed fun and buy a good .12 for racing. Any thoughts?

We haven't had alot of 1/10 scale latley. Everybody doing away with them and going to buggy, monster truck, unlimited monster truck. But on sometime u will ahve a couple 1/10 scale peopel but u would mainly run with the crt.5 if there not enough of 1/10. So as buy a rustler i don't if it's such a good idea.

I bought a 2 RC10 GT2's today. Great truck, can't wait to get them broken in. 1/10 will always be around.

Not sure what kind or how much racing you are planning on doing....but 1/10th scale racing, as previously mentioned, is on a down turn for sure. If you notice....1/10th is not even going to be raced in this years GA Championship Series. :-(
There will be 4 classes this year, 1/8 scale sportsman, monster truck, unlimited truck,1/8 scale pro

That's too bad. Not everyone can afford a 1/8 car.

I totally understand....racing and staying competitive is an expensive thing.
By limiting the classes, I think they are trying to make sure they can fit the racing scheudle in within a reasonable amount of time, all in 1 day. I think all of this is taking into consideration the the number of entries they were getting for each event last year.
But I'm sure there will still be some 1/10th scales at local club races...just not sure how many. :-\

Hey folks, is the Loganville Track open for practice during the Day Monday through Friday? I figure I could celebrate the day off on the 21'st and bring my "Electric T4" to the track. My little buddy will be with me and his Stampede Brushless.
